Welcome to the Maasai Haile Jones memorial site. This site is dedicated to the memory of Maasai, our beloved son who passed away in June 2018. This site provides information about Maasai’s life; and the scholarship fund dedicated in his name.

Maasai was president of the BSU in his senior year of high school, and was afforded many opportunities to interact with  other college-age black students.

During this time, his taste in literature gravitated towards Richard Wright, Malcolm X, Langston Hughes, and Nikki Giovanni.

Maasai Jones was a member of the honors college, and earned a partial scholarship from the university.
